Here is why we came North—to see the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights. This picture and the other ones following are a bit grainy. This is the effect of trying to keep the shutter speeds on the camera short enough to preserve the structure of the aurora, using slow enough film to be able to enlarge without too much grain, and the fact that the lights are not real bright from a photographic standpoint.
